Bought some for a daughter with a large family and she too loves these.I have used in top loader and in front loader while on extended visits with family. I do not use any detergents with them - just clothes and laundry balls. Clothes come out nice and clean. No chemical odors or perfume smells from detergents.I have used the laundry balls while camping too - washing clothes in a 5 gallon bucket - these are safe for environment so I dump the water at edge of camp site. And hang clothes to dry. Everyone at campground asked about them as they were amazed as well!Because these laundry balls only go in washer, I use the regular wash setting on machine - this actually gives 2 wash cycles with the laundry balls. This is great because the water gets dirty with wash cycle, then it drains out and washer refils for “rinse cycle” which is when the laundry balls get to wash the remaining soiling of the clothes. I use a medium spin cycle for my clothes. After machine is finished, I set the laundry balls aside to air dry and hang my clothes to dry as usual. I prefer not to use a dryer, but if I did I would take the laundry balls out first to air dry.Somehow air drying the laundry balls in sunlight keeps them working well by “recharging them” whatever that means. I just know these are safe for me and the environment and they work great!If you have a washer machine that also dries clothes in it, you probably should contact the laundry balls manufacturer about using these in that type machine.If you wash clothes in a machine or in a bucket or sink or campground get these laundry balls. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Save big bucks & get cleaner, whiter clothes, too! *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2020* I started out using just one ball that I had gotten on the internet. I liked it so much I decided to check here, the "website that has everything." Of course, they have them, so I ordered two more so that I could rotate them. While checking them out, I did some research and found out they recommended using two at a time. When the new ones got there, I had a full load of whites in the washer with the original ball at the bottom of the tub. I decided to leave the first balls in the machine and see how they worked! That white load came out every bit as white as a previous load washed in hot water with detergent and bleach! As long as they keep working like that, that's one less chemical that will be touching my family's skin! (And two big-ticket items I can leave off my monthly order!) Some of our whites with colors that couldn't handle the bleach before had become rather dingy. After one wash, they practically sparkled!****UPDATE: Usually, after a little time has gone by, and the "new" has worn off, gadgets like this begin to fail! HOWEVER, I am glad to report that is NOT the case with these Laundry Balls! They have worked so well that I have purchased a second set so I can adequately rotate and recharge them and keep up with which ones are supposed to be together! Why am I so crazy about them? My white/color items are whiter and brighter than when they were new; now, they nearly glow! Even my washer tub is sparkling, with no extra effort! Few stains I had on some buttoned shirts, gone after the first wash. Not only that but they work well together for heavy washes. Never seen clothes look better. My clothes don’t smell as nice though. Just plain. Nothing scented or flowery. Still, it works well to get rid of stains.
