Initially active from 1983 to 1991, Onslaught reformed in 2004. The band initially drew influence from second wave punk rock bands such as Discharge and the Exploited, and then adopted a straight forward thrash metal sound. Review: Exo-tera - This is probably over-simplifying things a bit, but to me this album sounds like a mix of Exodus and Pantera. Old-school 80's Exodus combined with that Dimebag swing and modern production values. There is enough Exodus sound in there that while listening I keep half-expecting them to break into a cover of Exodus' cover of Low Rider. Can't really take the lyrics all that seriously, but this album is highly energetic and lots of fun. Best new thrash metal album I've heard in I can't say how long. The last track is the only throw-away number on here. Probably just tacked on that one to get the run-time up to ~ 40 minutes. Still, overall a great thrash piece.
