The box it was shipped in wasn't great and had some damage but fortunately the contents were intact and undamaged. I open the box and noticed this is a LARGE pump. It's like a brick! I was dubious about how it would work and tested the solar clips to a 9 volt battery and was floored with the pumping power. I appreciate that it has a flow rate adjustment on the side to raise or lower the water pumping level. Next I hooked it up to a 12W 12V solar panel. It works great! Better than any pump I've used before. The only issue is that it is so good that I need to dial the flow rate to almost the lowest setting for my birdbath otherwise the water is too high and partially splashes out of the birdbath bowl. Again, glad it has the adjustment. Now here is the thing with this pump though... as it is a large pump and the intake filter cutouts is also on top of the pump, the water level needs to be completely above the pump. The pumps I have used in the past have had intakes either at the bottom or side. With this one being also on the top portion and due to it's size, you will need a large volume of water. Make sure your basin is deep! So this might work better for a water feature basin than a birdbath depending on how deep your birdbath basin is. And the pump features a run-dry cut off. It could be used to pump water from a source to a reservoir. However, the pressure is so slight it could not be used for plumbing. **Q: How hight can it shoot the water?** A: There are too many variables to answer your question accurately. But if you use the highest recommended power solar panel for this pump which i'm guessing is in the 20 to 30 watt range and no attachments to where the water exits the pump and at surface level, the water will shoot up less than a foot. But if you attach a tube and disc it can probably shoot water 6 to 10 feet high but at reduced volume because the water will be forced through the smaller opening in the disc. Keep in mind the higher the water goes the more likely the wind can make the water land outside the container, even if it's 5 feet wide. The one customer complaining the pump was too weak in his bird bath probably used a solar panel 5 watts or less or had one of those 8 foot tall 5 level ones. **Q: Can I purchase an extension cord for this pump? Do you sell the make connectors?** A: I'm not a vendor, just another customer who has made this work. **Q: How many amps on 12v solar pump** A: I recommend going to the "AEO Dry-Run Protection 12V-24V Water Pump" on the Amazon site that has all kinds of Q's & A's. I saw there that 10A is recommended as a solar panel DC electric source....but it will take higher amperage...up to 18A ?
