There’s a similar product on desertcart which does have a switch inside the battery cover to change the default between F and C, but there’s no such switch on this. Otherwise, I’m very happy with this item. Review: Waterproof - My last thermometer died because it is not water proof. I bought this because I see the photo that this meat thermometer was based on IP67 waterproof standard. After I tested, this is really true, so I don't have to worry about what I'm going to do if this thermometer accidently falling into the water. Of course, I don’t immerse this into the water for a minutes. After all, this behavior is too foolish. Also, the backlit is useful, even thought in the night, I can read the readout clearly.
