Electrical Specification: * Manufacturer Part Number: 17HS08-1004S * Motor Type: Bipolar Stepper * Step Angle: 1.8 deg. * Holding Torque: 16Ncm(22.6oz.in) * Rated Current/phase: 1.0A * Phase Resistance: 3.5ohms * Inductance: 4.5mH+/-20%(1KHz) Physical Specification: * Frame Size: 42 x 42mm * Body Length: 20mm * Shaft Diameter: 5mm * Shaft Length: 20mm * D-cut Length: 16.5mm * Number of Leads: 4 * Lead Length: 400mm * Weight: 140g Connection: Black(A+), Green(A-), Red(B+), Blue(B-) Warning: Make sure the motor connect to a constant current or chopper drive controller before you test motor. Connecting the motor directly to a power supply will destroy the motor.

Review: This stepper motor works fine. I bought it for a laser engraver upgrade. An adjustable Z axis and I thought the stream thin profile would be an advantage. So far, so good. The motor appears to be good quality and well built. The small size does limit the torque, so be sure the motor is suitable for your application before purchasing.
Review: Running this on an both an Afterburner and Stealthburner conversion for my Ender 3 printers. Love it. runs warm without missing steps, plenty of torque.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: would this provide enough tork for a 3d direct drive extruder?**
A: I am using this with the E3D Titan extruder. It is not a direct drive in the sense the shaft of the motor is not moving the filament directly. It has a 3:1 gear ratio. It is, however, sitting on top of my hotend and in that sense, it is a direct drive (i.e. not a bowden).

**Q: Is this better as a direct drive on an e3d or as a bowden? i'm have trouble with it feeding filament as a bowden to i need to up my esteps?**
A: If you’re using a Bowden I’d use a normal high torque NEMA 17. This short body 17 has to be geared in order to drive filament as a geared direct drive the short body lightens the weight on the hotend. You could use this on a Bowden but it still needs geared, but because weight isn’t an issue you could go with a heavier stepper. But if your wanting to increase your steps going with a normal 17 and use gear reduction will increase the steps and increase torque

**Q: Can this be used with e3d titan extruder**
A: Yes it can , but you will have to solder on a plug if you want it to be like the original motor.

**Q: how much weight can this support?**
A: The specs say 18.4 oz-in holding torque.

Used this for the skelestruder on my PRUSA MK3, just had to set the current down to 300mA. Works very well, but you will need to extend the wiring as what is attached is not long enough to run from the extruder head to the control board. This is the only negative thing I can say about this, and this was due to my application. Shame they don't do this particular model with a plug socket design.
