With the hopes that this will help someone else: according to the size chart posted, I *should* have ordered an extra large. To me, that felt silly becuase I would normally go straight for a medium. I took a chance and purchased the large, which is only supposed to fit up to a 27 inch waist (very skewed, but ok). My hip circumference is 39 inches around the biggest part of my butt, and the size large are super comfortable- they fit perfectly without stretching at all. I probably could have ordered the medium and been fine since these do stretch, but I have experienced no rolling or falling down or anything so I am happy. I was also worried that the lace back would show up under some of my work pants, but that is not the case at all. Even with body hugging outfits you can't see these, plus they're cute and I really liked the color variety. This is a steal compared to the 20-30 dollar a pair underwear you see in department stores (btw, when the heck did undies get so dang expensive?).
