Combining soft straw and protein-rich alfalfa coated in molasses, it supports weight maintenance, digestive health, and muscle development. Each bale offers approximately 33 days of feeding at two scoops per day, making it a convenient, nutritious choice for all breeds and life stages. ## Description Dengie Hi-Fi Original is a high-fibre, low starch maintenance feed ideal for horses at rest or in light work. A nutritional blend of alfalfa, high-quality, soft cereal straw & molasses to provide a lower sugar alternative to traditional molassed chaffs The inclusion of alfalfa provides quality protein, important for muscle development & repair Great value - a 20kg bale provides approx. 66 scoops per bale - when feeding two scoops per day, one bale will last approx. 33 days* Dengie Hi-Fi Original comes in a 20kg bale, which provides approximately 66 Stubbs scoops! When feeding two scoops per day, one bale of Hi-Fi Original will last approximately 33 days! *Please note that our bales are measured by weight rather than volume so the number of scoops per bale may vary slightly depending on natural variation in the crops. Dengie Hi-Fi Original can be fed as part of the bucket feed or as a partial forage replacer. It can be fed at levels of up to 1kg per 100kg of bodyweight, meaning that it can still make a significant contribution to your horse's fibre intake. Feeding straw can be very beneficial for horses and ponies that are naturally good doers. Studies have shown that using straw as part of your horse's ration - up to 50% - does not increase the risk of gastric ulcers and provides a valuable source of low-calorie fibre. Although straw has a low nutritional value, feeding it is still beneficial for gastric health. Straw increases chew time and therefore greater saliva production. This is important as saliva contains bicarbonate which naturally helps regulate acidity in the horse's digestive tract. Cereal straw, alfalfa, molasses, mould inhibitor Digestible Energy: 8MJ/kg Protein: 10% Oil: 1.5% Fibre: 35% Sugar: 9% Starch: 1.5% up to 500g per 100kgs bodyweight Dengie Hi-Fi Original can be fed as the sole energy source: just add a broad-spectrum vitamin and mineral supplement or balancer. Hi-Fi Original can also be fed as a partial forage replacer. The average section of hay weighs around 2kgs which can be replaced with 2kgs of Hi-Fi Original. As Hi-Fi Original is a short ‘chop’ it takes as long to eat as the equivalent weight of hay or haylage and so helps to keep horses occupied and satisfied. Unlike hay and haylage which can vary in nutritional content from batch to batch, Hi-Fi Original provides consistent nutrition. A large Stubbs scoop holds approximately 300g.
