Each brush has a pair of rubber o-rings that can be independently adjusted along the length of the bristles to change the brush response from very taught to quite slack. This provides a wide range of sound and feel possibilities - particularly altering the attack when you strike the cajon. The 'bristles' are actually fairly thick strands of curly nylon, densely packed together. When I first held these brushes, I was left unconvinced they would sound good and was unsure about the blue colouring of the bristles - but thankfully, I needn't have been concerned as these brushes are great fun to play and expand the impressive versatility of the cajon still further.
