Used lump wood charcoal for direct cooking spraying the grates and griddle plates with one/cal vegetable oil once the BBQ was up to temperature. The results are superb ! The weight of the cast iron grate assembly evens out the heat and helps maintain an even temperature, you can seer meet and vegetables then transfer to the griddle plates for slow indirect cooking.Using small S/S dishes you can heat up baked beans or tined products on the grates. Then oil up the smooth side of the griddle plate for fried eggs.Went adventureous, got two small chickens cut the back bones out and spatch cocked them.Put butchers BBQ rub on and cooked on the griddles indirectly again mouth watering.The CRAYCORT grates have transformed my Weber 57 to an even more versatile outside cooking unit and increased my enjoyment and cooking adventures.( They even fit my Ugly Drum Smoker a double win ) Best non stick product I know too !
