Accurate temperatures in an easy to use format. It came set to Celsius, but after pushing a couple of buttons, I quite easily changed it to Fahrenheit (pull trigger then push T/DN button). It can be set to alert you if a temperature is above or below a certain point, report a temperature average, or just report the temperature at that spot. Temperature readings can be adjusted to compensate for emissivity differences. Materials like wood, stone and metal emit heat very differently. This affects the accuracy of the readings if you don’t have an emissivity adjustment. It comes with a screw driver (which I only noticed just now), a soft case, carabiner attachment, 180 day warranty, and detailed instruction booklet. Only thing I don’t like is the need to remove a screw to install the battery. The tiny screw is very difficult to replace because it’s deeply set inside a narrow well at the bottom of the device (see photo). The battery compartment won’t stay closed without it. When I couldn’t find a magnetic screwdriver, I found some tweezers and used them to hold the screw long enough to get it started. When I tried unscrewing it a second time with the supplied screwdriver, I discovered you don’t need to completely remove the screw to open the battery compartment. PS. This device is NOT for taking temperatures on people. WHY? One good reason is blinding someone with the laser if it gets in their eyes. Then I opened the manual... After trying to figure out what the manufacturer was trying to tell me in the manual, I decided that if it's going to be, it is up to me. So... After about a half hour or so of fiddling with it I seem to have gotten enough hands on to make it work. It is very fast and chocked full of features that I will probably never use, but hey, the price is right! This thermometer is well worth the money. I use it mostly for cooking. Not for the food (duh) but the pans, the grill and what not. I've used it in my shop for electronics. Checking component temps. In the house I can check the temperature at and around doors and windows inside and outside. It's a good product that gets better as you maneuver through the self paced learning curve. All in all a very good product.
