The green silicone is squidgy, soft and durable. It pops into, and out of shape with little effort and has a silicone ring at the base for added grip. I put mine through the dishwasher cycle while not being compressed so as to facilitate adequate cleaning. When folded to its smaller size the rubber can reduce water flow inside and although it probably would still be clean, the result is ensured while expanded.
