Specifically, the top metal part that clamps onto the top of the banner is very difficult to figure out. However, once you have it figured out, the rest is pretty straight forward. The spring that winds the banner back into the base unit is very robust. It is almost a 2 person job to deploy the banner. The base is a little flimsy, and it does not feel like it is going to survive heavy use, but for occasional deployment and for the price you can't beat this.
