I contacted the company about this, but they never responded. Don’t buy this kettle! This is beautiful and really gets the water hot. Three issues: 1. The cord is very short. 2. The lid is very difficult to put on and take off. You have to get the little bumps just right in the ridges, and that is not always easy because the one side doesn’t seem to be cut smoothly. 3. The outside of the kettle gets VERY hot! So you can not leave it on the counter after you have boiled the water if you have pets or children. And you can’t put it in the sink to let it cool because of the electrical connection. I put a pot over it until it cools. Also, I have burned myself a few times picking it up. Even though the handle is cool, the body is so, so hot.
