Just squeeze the spring, between your fingers, You should, Really easily, fell the difference, in resistance. **Q: Is the 58.5mm works with ECM synchronika portafilter ?** A: Yes **Q: Does the tamping base move downward into the basket as pressure is applied, or is it fixed to the leveling guide?** A: The tamping disc is moving separately and it is suspended by the load spring which is interchangeable. And the leveling guide disc sits on a separate spring which is softer. **Q: Should this make a click like a torque wrench once proper pressure is applied? Mine doesn't with any spring** A: NO, pressing down all the way to the base just applies full spring pressure to the pick. So, push all the way down until it stops and you are done. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very luxurious and professional tamper *by on Reviewed in Egypt 31 March 2026* Top 1 in tamping ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good value but tamping pressure cannot be adjusted as advertised *by on Reviewed in the United States 24 March 2021* 1. The quality of the machining is pretty good for this price.2. The shape of the handle is a bit odd with a flat top but I'm only pulling a few shots a day so there's no issue there.3. The levelling ability is reasonable. There is a slight bit of play between the inner shaft and the leveling flange but it does keep the tamp level.4. Now the bad. There are actually two springs in this tamper. One which puts pressure on the flange which can be changed, and one which put pressure on the tamper which cannot be changed. The tamp pressure roughly measured on scales is 9 kg.. not enough to for me to get full compaction of grounds. The adjustable three springs just changes the pressure on the leveling flange so probably the lightest one is best. I think I'll pull mine apart and see if it's possible to remove the inner spring so I can get a slight bit more pressure to fully compact the puck.I know there's a bunch of peeps who measured tds at different tamp pressures who say it doesn't matter...well maybe for them in their situation. But for me in mine, there is absof*ckenlutly a difference with different tamp pressure. I've found that it's best when grounds are fully compacted...whatever that pressure emay be. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great tool for espresso making *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 16 December 2023* This is built like a tank and helps me achieve a level tamp each time, effortlessly. Yes, it’s more expensive than an inexpensive conventional tamper, but it’s worth the price difference based on product quality and how well and easily it performs the task at hand. It comes with three springs, each associated with a different level of pressure, however, I found that all that is needed is the smallest / lightest and job’s done without any fuss. Easy to disassemble and easy to clean.
