Review: Fixed my SEVERE iron deficiency! - I recently started seeing a functional medicine doctor to address some issues I've been having and the first they had me do was a full blood workup. When the results came back one of the most glaring issues was my blood iron (ferritin) level. Ideal levels for a woman my age should be 100-150+ ug/L. My level was 18!! The doctor asked me how I managed to get out of bed in the morning and how I can go up and down stairs without fainting, let alone live my life! It's amazing how you can get used to such a poor quality of life when it creeps up on you and you don't know any different. I immediately started taking iron at triple the recommended dose to make up for my severe deficiency and stop the 'iron leak' I seem to have in my body. After bouncing around between a few different supplements, I have settled on this one and I love it! I take 2 per day (that's what my doctor recommended even though the bottle says 1) and I no longer get dizzy and light headed, I don't bruise as easily as I used to and I just feel so much better over all! If you're deficient in iron, some of the symptoms you might experience are fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating, difficulty regulating body temperature or often feeling cold, pale skin, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, headaches, hair loss, restless leg syndrome, itchiness, more frequent bouts of illness and ringing, hissing or buzzing in your ears.
