A brief yet informative and well-written bio of Hokusai, why he's important and what he did that makes him remarkable is illustrated with aptly-curated illustrations which include what he's well-known for as well as samples of his illustrations from his how-to-draw books and a glimpse of his manga. When paired with the four DIY projects (printed on perforated pages and including sheets of graphite-backed paper so you can transfer those line-art templates to your preferred media to try and paint them yourself) it forms a witty, charming, and accessible introduction to the Old Man Mad About Art. There is one un-ignorable flaw though. The template for Project 2, intended to be a linework rendering of "South Wind, Clear Dawn" (or, "Red Fuji") is actually "Rainstorm Beneath the Summit", so if you want to try to paint that in Hokusai style, you'll have to use the illustration earlier in the book for reference and intuit the color palette on your own.
