I've tried magnetic boards and other methods to get my son to remember what he needs to do each day and get into better habits (he is 7). What I didn't realize is that by us going through it every evening before bed it gives us a really valuable conversation tool. Normally a conversation with him involves several knock knock jokes with really poor timing and bungled punchlines. Or, he just keeps farting and laughing, making my job as a mom, trying to have a meaningful discussion with him EXTREMELY hard. This way we actually have something that sparks real conversations, like what are you the most grateful for today? Or did you have an opportunity to stand up for someone? Did you stand up for yourself?
