My son came through the door with one of these two weeks ago, purchased at a local music superstore (for almost the exact same price as listed here) and when I asked him how much it cost, I practically flinched. I was all set with the speech about cheap violins and thinking how would I get him to take it back, but it appears to be of at least equal quality if not better to some that cost double that amount. He is, after two weeks and with no previous experience with a stringed instrument, playing tunes from a book and sounds GOOD. The only problem is that he will have to get a better bow. It is probably about the cheapest quality bow possible and I've seen better on Amazon in the $35.00 - $40.00 range.
