You do have to use a knife to shave off the excess rubber that sticks out at both ends so that the ports can be inserted all the way into the female ports, but it only takes a few minutes. It seems that the excess rubber is somewhat like a boot that slides down over the actual cable/end because when you shave down the excess, you reach the actual cable, and can peel the excess back. Wish I took a few photos before I installed it in the car to demonstrate here, but unfortunately I didn't. After installing this cable and the two parts above, I was able to plug in USB gamepads, and music on a USB stick or record Sentry dashcam footage to a USB stick in the center console, instead of being limited to just the USB port in the glove compartment.
