I have owned this since April 2018, therefore I have had a good opportunity to full test this. This lamp has been used every day next to my bed before I go to sleep. I thought I might want to use it while reading, however, I found it just wasn't bright enough. The reason I gave 3 stars is because I think the lamp is covered with plastic or what ever material it is and this I guess would kind of mostly defeat the object of the salt lamp as the salt is not exposed that much if its' covered so the air purifying quality etc will be reduced.
