The instructions do not mention insulation.** A: The reason manufactures don't want insulation over standard lights is that they can become very hot and possibly cause a fire -as there's nowhere for the heat from the lamp to go. LED's however give off very little heat. You could test it for yourself -but in my opinion, these lights wouldn't reach high temperatures even if left on for 24hours!... with lagging on them. **Q: Will this fit a 7cm cavity?** A: Dear customer, thanks for your question. This product is 3 inch LED downlights, it is not compatible with ceiling hole in diameter 7CM. We recommend the smaller model, 2.5 inch 8W.
