The thing is to always cut them at the bottom. Sew the teeth together with a loop stitch. before you completely sew it in to your garment. **Q: Can these be used to make couch cushions?** A: These are lightweight and I believe more suitable for garments and other items that will not be placed under stress. For example, these zippers would be fine for interior pockets on lightweight fabric bags, but I would use a more substantial zipper for the primary zipper. If this zipper will be used on a sofa cushion that will be removed frequently for cleaning, you may want to consider a more substantial zipper.
