Review: Good Balance of Salt and Spice - This small-ish container of chili-flavored salt looks at first as though it's all crushed red pepper, but it's not. A pinch of it placed directly on my tongue tasted more salty than fiery, although the hot pepper is there. I find that this salt is great to add to olive oil for a dipping sauce or on homemade focaccia or as seasoning on burgers. I expect that it would also be good on grilled chicken. Because this salt comes from the UK, a place where spicy rarely means fiery, this seasoning is milder than I expected. Still, it has fantastic flavor for a variety of uses. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

The pepper flakes weren’t uniform so it’s tough to weigh out the heat output. Not much salt at all, I added a lot of sea salt flakes to it and the salt still didn’t come through. It would be good to add salt to it and mortar it so they are uniforms size to gage the heat output. It would be cheaper to buy red pepper flakes and add your own salt.
