Review: Great Story...Wonderful book. - I watched the movie "Adrift" earlier this year before I read this book. I loved the movie. I think they did a wonderful job telling Tami's story. I know people expect to put so much in a movie from a real life story, but it's so much you can put in the movie without over doing it and boring the audience. It kept my attention. I also read the real story before the movie started. It made me more intrigued with her story. After the movie, I decided to purchase her book. I read and finished this book in two days. It was so good. It told everything you seen in the movie, some parts a tiny bit differently, but all the same. As well as, a lot of other stuff that wasn't in the movie. I'm kind of glad they didn't put so much in the movie because I would feel like they would've over did it and the movie might've been longer than it needed to be. It was a good move and the book is just as good. I also loved the personal pictures she put in her book. Just enough, but not too much. Although, I wouldn't mind more pictures. Lol! Anyway, it wa s a fantastic read. I would recommend people to watch "Adrift" and read this book. Both were very intriguing and good. They both tell Tami & Richard's story very well.
Review: Incredible true story of survival - This incredible true story resonated with me and brought back many happy memories (and a few scary ones) of life at sea. I spent much of my youth in the early '80s sailing in the tropics. Tami however found herself faced with the unthinkable, when her fiance' Richard was lost overboard during hurricane Raymond. She was left behind to fight for her life injured and alone aboard a badly damaged sailboat. Hundreds of miles from nowhere and stranded in the middle of the Pacific ocean! Many of us might have given up. Tami with her injuries, broken heart, broken sailboat, and painful loneliness was determined to survive... and survive she did. This book was a great read from beginning to finish. Tami you did an amazing job of sharing your adventuresome spirit, your deep love, tragic loss, and tale of survival. I enjoyed the movie "Adrift" as well. You are a survivor!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Incredible true story of survival

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An amazingly honest account
*by M***K on June 3, 2009*

I'm a big reader of the survival and adventure stories genre and this book is toward the top of my list. While I purchased it on audio CD and the author may have been better served hiring a professional reader (she lacks polish, but actually improves as the books goes on), the content and the story is simply amazing. Her personal account of tragedy, the will to survive, and the challenges she faced is one incredible. Perhaps most appealing to me was that she didn't stop when she was rescued. She continues the book forward for ten years beyond the tragedy, describing the challenges of re-integrating back into society, dealing with obsticles after the fact (from dealing with the coast guard to dealing with the her boyfriend's family), and where she ends up. This is a truly unique book from that perspective and provides insights that books like "The Long Walk", "We Die Alone", and "Endurance" fail to fully account for.
