That gauge is expensive. I added a 30 amp inline fuse at the car battery. This blows pretty weak, but it takes the edge off in an old corolla that has a bad heater core. Even with 12 gauge wires, the wires get warm. You will want to connect directly to the battery. Review: Not recommended: only blows the heat six inches. - I did NOT buy this heater thinking that it would warm the interior of my SUV…..I knew it was incapable of that. What I DID think it would be capable of doing is blowing some heat a couple of feet, so that I could place it on the middle console and feel SOME heat blowing on me. WRONG! The fan on this can only blow the heat about 6”, even when the fan is on high. So, the only part of you which is going to feel heat is your right hand, when you hold it 3” in front of the unit. I contacted the manufacturer, who was very friendly and helpful, and who offered to replace it. However, after talking about it with the representative, I concluded that it’s probably not defective, but rather, woefully inadequate.
