To be clear, the valve will open when AC or DC voltage is applied. I tested this with a 9 V battery and it opened and stays open so long as the battery is attached. When I installed it In my boiler I connected the valve to a 24 V AC power supply and it also opens as soon as voltage is applied and remains open until voltage is turned off. Thus I confirmed that it works with either AC or DC voltage. Amazing. Nevertheless, the electronics do not seem to overheat even though power remains on. I gather this is because there is a capacitor that is charged up to opens the valve rather than using a coil to keep the valve open. If this is correct, then this is a brilliant design idea. I didn’t tear into the electronics to verify this, so however it works I’m plenty happy with it so far. You can audibly hear the valve mechanism operate when voltage is turned on or turned off which takes a couple of seconds to fully open or close the valve. I can’t hear any hum while the valve is open. Review: Works perfectly - I used this valve to remotely turn my air supply on/off through a smart plug. (Alexa, turn on the air compressor) I bought the stainless full port 2 wire. That way when the plug/power turns off, the valve closes on it's own. Worked great for about 3 weeks, then leaked.
