Other kinds have a harder type of plastic that touches your face, but not this kind. It's a very soft plastic. It can get twisted and kinked, mostly under the chin though, but that's easy to avoid. It also doesn't have the weird plastic tab under the nose like some brands have. They do have a strong plastic smell at first, but it goes away. These stay soft for a good while too.
