It is designed to fit inside 1/2 inch ID Schedule 40 PVC pipe. This unit heats up to a full 10' section of pipe. You can heat shorter lengths by not inserting the entire length into the pipe. Hint: Putting a connector, tee or other fitting on the ends help them to remain round so as to more easily accept the permanent fitting when it cools. PVC Bendits heat to approximately 900 degrees F. While the largest ID PVC Schedule 40 pipe we've bent in our shop is 6" customers report bending 7 and 8" pipe. It takes time for the pipe to heat so be patient. For larger ID pipe you might support the PVC Bendit on a piece of angle iron or slotted angle iron and use supports on each end to center it in the middle. Also you'll need to wrap the PVC Pipe with insulation i.e. 1/2" X 36" coated fiberglass pipe insulation or similar. We provide graphite/carbon fiber heat resistant felt that it can rest on and which can be wrapped around 2"OD and smaller pipe. If you have priced competitive heaters they typically have ID restrictions as well as length restrictions and they cost much more than PVC Bendits.
