It takes me a few runs to shake off the cob webs, and make my way out into the side/back country. I have been snowboarding for over 20 years, and wish I had known about this product earlier. I have never seen this sort of balance board in a board shop; and I'm not sure why. I thought that I could just hop right on the Vew-Do Flow and it be spinning in place. It is not that easy, and it requires a bit of getting used to, even for a seasoned board enthusiast. It's also a surprisingly decent workout, I was really surprised to be sweating after 20 minutes of messing around. The Flow balance board comes with a wooden roller that fits on a rail of the board, with stops at either end. The wooden roller is beveled so that you can roll onto the sides and practice heel and toe edge balance, while also being forced to balance forward and backward as the roller moves up/down the rail. It is not easy, and you can easily go too far (heel/toe) and hit the stops. It requires a bit of open space, and definitely a carpet/or large firm gym pad. I haven't fallen down, but I've had to bail many times, and I have gotten the wooden roller to fly.... definitely don't mess around in a room full of fine china. Vew-Do makes many different shape decks, 4 different wood rollers, and a foam teeter beam for all different board sports and different skill levels. I lucked out and picked the Flow, and didn't get to cocky and jump up to the El -Dorado. The El Dorado is round instead of beveled (Flow). The Zippy has small nubs on the end to stop the user from going too far heel/toe edge. Any one of these combinations would probably benefit anyone trying to get into a board sport, but you should probably do a little research and pick the right one for your ability level. Second, this is THE most used item in my house, we have it in the living room on a yoga mat permanently, and it is impossible to pass it by without giving it a go for a minute or two. Thirdly, movement is my therapy, I love to move, it's such a positive and beautiful thing. Instead of pacing around now I'm improving a skill.
