Whether legally required or not, we would recommend them as a safety precaution. Using a fire hood helps resist the spread of fire through the various floors of a building. A further advantage of this hood is that it prevents the leakage of sound upwards - potentially into another property. HOODY Speaker Hoods meet all relevant UK building and IEE Regulations. Custom designed for ceiling speakers, HOODY is Parts B,L,C and E compliant and offers fire protection for up to 66 minutes for all circular and rectangular speaker designs from 3" to 10" woofer cones. It's a requirement for all speakers that are installed below any habitable rooms and escape routes to be treated. A standard two storey house for example will require all the ground floor speaker locations to have hoods fitted. If a house has three floors the regulations require hoods to be fitted on the ground and first floor speakers. Review: Bigger than thought - Bought this thinking I needed the hoody 2 for the size, turned out the hoody 1 would of fitted, my speakers were 6" and think this is for 8 or so, anyway, it does block out an amazing amount of sound from the speakers in the room above, made a massive difference, just hope I don't need to find out how fire proof it is. Review: On the fence with this product - I used 2 of these for my very expensive Kef THX in ceiling speakers,no I don't doubt there ability as a far fire retardants, but this product is supposed improve the sonic ability of the speakers as well, which I haven't found to be the case ## Features - The Hoody 2 is designed for speakers with 7" - 10" Bass Drivers - Hoody is especially designed for in-ceiling speakers and features a fire rating of up to 66 minutes and is Parts B,L,C and E compliant. - Due to its acoustic construction it will also help reduce backwards sound leakage from the speakers to the rooms above its location, this is particularly useful when installing in-ceiling speakers below a child’s bedroom. - Dimensions: Diameter 335mmm, Depth 180mm ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00LXCC86I | | Best Sellers Rank | 15,672 in Electronics & Photo ( See Top 100 in Electronics & Photo ) 211 in Audio & Video Speaker Accessories 644 in Hi-Fi Speakers | | Brand | Hoody | | Brand Name | Hoody | | Colour | Silver | | Compatible Devices | Speakers | | Compatible devices | Speakers | | Country of Origin | United Kingdom | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 10 Reviews | | Included Components | HOODY 2 | | Item Dimensions | 10 x 10 x 10 centimetres | | Item Weight | 0.4 Kilograms | | Item dimensions L x W x H | 10 x 10 x 10 centimetres | | Manufacturer | HOODY | | Manufacturer Part Number | H2 | | Model Name | HOODY 2 | | Model Number | HOODY2 | | Mounting Type | Ceiling Mount | | Mounting type | Ceiling Mount | | Product Features | Hand Free | | Special feature | Hand Free | | Water Resistance Level | Waterproof | ## Images ![hoody 2 Ceiling Speaker Accoustic Fire Hood - Single - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/611hKNYQsGL.jpg) ![hoody 2 Ceiling Speaker Accoustic Fire Hood - Single - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/516vhpsCaVL.jpg) ![hoody 2 Ceiling Speaker Accoustic Fire Hood - Single - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51YisLluRyL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bigger than thought *by S***S on 30 January 2022* Bought this thinking I needed the hoody 2 for the size, turned out the hoody 1 would of fitted, my speakers were 6" and think this is for 8 or so, anyway, it does block out an amazing amount of sound from the speakers in the room above, made a massive difference, just hope I don't need to find out how fire proof it is. ### ⭐⭐⭐ On the fence with this product *by J***L on 11 June 2024* I used 2 of these for my very expensive Kef THX in ceiling speakers,no I don't doubt there ability as a far fire retardants, but this product is supposed improve the sonic ability of the speakers as well, which I haven't found to be the case ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent quality, peace of mind *by H***S on 25 March 2022* High quality product that not only give great peace of mind, but drastically reduce the sound leakage to upstairs rooms.
