This removed the extremely tight cartridges from my Franke Ascona taps easily and the job took less than five minutes. So to answer the question, a 2mm Allen key for the handles (which came with the replacement cartridges) and a 14mm deep socket. Oh, and a towel to catch the water held in the spout! **Q: Photos do not match product Diagram. Which is true?** A: I replaced the cartridges on a tap that looks like the one in the diagram! No problem. **Q: Is this a guenuine Franke spare part?** A: Thank you for your enquiry. This is our compatible alternative to the official Franke parts available. So, not genuine Franke, but it should work perfectly. **Q: Valve under guarantee** A: As I recall there was a one year guarantee on the product which included the two valve cartridges. Our tap was fine for three years then the hot valve began to drip due to calcification from the local hard water. No more dripping tap, very pleased with my purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 👍🏻 *by A***E on 14 July 2026* Perfect replacement! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good valves, wrong tool *by A***R on 14 September 2020* Good news: fitted perfectly and no drips. For £13 I couldn't be bothered to figure out if it was the hot side or the cold side, so replaced both. The ones in already, and these, could be loosened and tightened by removing the plastic collar and then using a 14mm ring spanner. Vaguely bad news, docked one star: to save five minutes I ordered this particular set because of it coming with the right sized Allen key to remove the tiny grub screws in the handles. It was the wrong sized Allen key, for my taps at least. Luckily I had one the right size to hand. At a guess, 2.0mm supplied, 2.5mm needed: neither was labelled, and the right was was lying around in my tool kit looking lost. Not the vendor's fault: like other people, I'm a bit disappointed that this is the second time I have had to change the cartridges in four years.
