In the summer of 1996, was created by Mitch McMichen. It began in his garage in Nashville, Tennessee. The first set of chimes was made with a hacksaw and a hand drill. It didn't look like much, but that was the first step to crafting the perfect set of chimes. When asked about the early days of TreeWorks, Mitch replies, "I wasn't trying to start a company. I was trying to find a sound." Since then has grown to become the most respected chimes in the percussion world -- used by top studio and touring drummers and percussionist as well as the top 24 drum corps. These instruments are still handmade in Nashville, Tennessee and are unmatched in craftsmanship and sound quality. (and yes my computer sound works)** A: I got it several years ago and if there was sound I didn’t know it. Didn’t look for any. Has a beautiful sound. **Q: Compatible with 432hz or just concert 440hz?** A: This was a gift for a percussion student. Go to TreeWorks Chimres TRE415 and see what their website says as I am not sure. **Q: Could this be played with a mallet/beater? Would this play a scale?** A: Old answer: The pitches are so high that it would be hard to pick out the scale even if it were tuned. It's supposed to be played in an upward or downward glissando. Update: Checked mine today and the pitches are pretty distinct. Starting in a F minor scale, then going up in a combination of whole steps and half steps, the pitches on mine, starting on F6 (third F above middle C on a piano) are: F, G, Ab, Bb, B, C# (Db), D, Eb, F, Gb, Ab, Bb. They aren't too hard to play individually if you have a small mallet. **Q: What country was it made?** A: It is made in Nashville Tenn. USA The wood part is 9 inch's long the chimes are 7 inch's to 4 inch's.
