I lifted up the weight, then jerked it really hard (trying to break the tensioner). The tensioner didn't break but the cord slipped a little bit through the tensioner. I was using 1.8mm cord and I would guess the force was over 120 lbs before the tensioner slipped. If you were using thicker diameter cord that number would increase before it slipped.
