The antenna receives raw digital signals over the air. You need a TV tuner to then choose the signal you want to focus in on and produce on the screen. If you convert that to HDMI and try to port it into a line-in, I have no idea what you'd get visually, if anything at all. Hell, you may even burn out the input line. This thing is only good for taking an HDMI signal and turning it into a coaxial signal. It used to be good for splitting a cable box signal throughout the house to multiple TV's via the house's coax lines. But then the cable companies reprogrammed their boxes and have a way to detect through the HDMI lines if their boxes are connected to devices like this - so they then block the signal with a black screen and null audio. So now these things are really only good for splitting computer/DVD type outputs to multiple TV's for convention booth setups. I'd say for stores too, but this particular device only outputs in 480 mode, so it's not smart for a store to split up a blue-ray to showcase TV's with 480 resolution. But all that aside - you want to connect a digital HD antenna to your receiver. Your receiver needs a coax input. This device is for the opposite conversion - HDMI to coax, not coax to HDMI. The set-up works well however sometimes I get vertical line toward the right edge of the screen. Reestablishing the Chromecast connection can remedy the line, or there may be a need to disconnect and then reconnect the Chromecast device can remedy the vertical line.
