The sole needed a little flattening but that is what I use my tablesaw table for these days. The brass mouth insert is a nice touch and appreciated. However, to use it, I have no clue as there were no instructions inside as to how to use it and how to guage planing depth. This done, it's a decent small hand plane. The cross bar thing is removable and I removed it. The light weight of the wooden body makes it pleasant to work with one-handed.
