Will it dry clear?** A: Yes, this is Clear Food Grade Silicone Sealant. **Q: Is this real, odorless RTV, or does it have an acetic/vinegar smell like most silicone sealants?** A: I didn’t experience any of odor or acedic/vinegars smell/taste from this product. **Q: Will it seal a savino wine saving tritan plastic carafe? apparently the carafe is in two pieces snapped together tightly and frequently leaks.** A: Not sure about chemical burn issue. I manipulated the silicone around the hole in the carafe with a toothpick. The only caveat on the tube it comes in says - "Caution: On contact, uncured silicone sealant irritates eyes. Flush eyes with water. Call Physician immediately. Sealant releases acetic acid during cure." Acetic acid is the main component of vinegar. You could also use disposable nitrile exam gloves (usually comes in a box of 200) to put a barrier between your skin and the the sealant. I use those (gloves) all the time for stuff I have to around the house where I want to protect my hands but still have good fine motor control (impossible with regular work gloves). It was working perfectly but I noticed a tiny tear on the fridge rubber near the inside hinge. I wanted to sell it as near perfect as possible so visited you tube for advice. The idea of food grade sealant came up. I can’t remember quite how I did it now, so I advise you to go to YouTube. I know I just put enough sealant on to fill the gap and made sure I wiped off any excess. I can’t remember if I left the fridge door open for an hour or not. What I do remember, is that as part of the sealing process you shut the fridge door and keep it shut for at least ( I think) 24 hrs. But do a YouTube check. I know it works brilliantly and, of course, it’s food grade, so harmless to food.
