Both of Souvia's discs are excellent in every way❗ ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutley identical to the Revelux version other than the logo *by T***T on May 26, 2019* I originally purchased the Revelux Milk Frother based on reviews, then purchased this for use at my office (it was less than half the price, though now about a week later has doubled in price). I have owned and used several Nespresso Aerochinos, including the latest Barista, I much prefer this. The Barista has a TINY volume, overflows and leaks easily if you put too much milk in, and while the LED's make a pretty display, and downloading new "recipes" from your phone is a neat trick, this and the Revelux are the machines I actually use day after day.You'll see reviews that say some dumb things, like it doesn't turn off so you have to pull the power chord out - not so. It's an induction heater and after it's done heating / frothing it beeps to let you know it's done, but a fan-like sound stays on for a minute or two which (I guess) is for internal cooling. After that it goes into a standby mode. You wake it up with a press of the button, and you start it heating / frothing with a second press. Great froth, works wonderfully with Soy / Oat or Almond milk. Temperature is easy to adjust. Buy this one! Makes enough for more than two large coffee mugs. SO easy to clean. I usually just rinse it out and heat a small volume of water to clean it after I'm done, but the jug and whisks go in the dishwasher. It also makes GREAT hot chocolate - something you can't do with an Aerochino.Being an induction heater, large magnetic fields are produced while using, so probably not a good choice for anyone with an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good micro foam; fast, easy to clean. *by D***P on June 10, 2018* This is extremely convenient to use and clean, and makes a consistently good micro foam. Prior to the Souvia, I had used both a stovetop steamer and one of the $40 units with a non-stick interior. Overall, I much prever the Souvia. It finishes 1 cup of milk in 3 minutes, at the 160 degree setting. On my power meter it peaks at 480 Watts and uses 0.016kWh for 1 cup, so it's reasonably efficient.The three photos show the interior of the frothing jar; the cord-slack/wrap on the bottom of the base; the interior of the base unit with magnetic spindle and smaller pressure/temperature sensor.Compared to other steamers/frothers I've used:My old stove-top steamer makes awesome foam--you have complete control over the product, but it takes nearly 10 minutes to come up to pressure, and cannot make more than two servings before needing to build up pressure again. Also, we replaced our range with an induction unit, and there are no induction-capable stove-top steamers. While searching for "induction steamer", I found the Souvia (which does use induction), and I'm very happy I tried it. I don't have as much control over the volume of foam as I did with the actual steamer, but it's so much faster, and easier to clean up, and it's more consistent than I was, even after several years of using the steamer.The $40, non-stick frother was pretty disappointing. It makes a very stiff, nearly crunchy foam, and it doesn't circulate the milk very well while heating, leaving a brown skin of milk on the bottom. It also barely makes enough for two coffees, and the min/max lines are very hard to see on the dark interior. Cleanup isn't terrible, but not as easy as the Souvia, and it can't be immersed in water, let alone the dishwasher.By contrast, the Souvia makes a very silky micro foam every time (using 2% milk). It's as good a foam as I could make with a steam wand, when I did everything just right. With the serrated frothing disc, the volume of the foam is about equal to the volume of the milk. With the smooth disc, you just just a very thin layer of foam--so no need to hold some foam back with a spoon for a latte. It has great circulation, which keeps the milk from overheating and sticking or browning. The min/max lines are very easy to see, even before you've had your morning coffee. The interior is smooth, seamless stainless steel, which makes cleanup very easy. In particular, the frothing discs are spun magnetically, so there is no mechanical connection to clean around--just a smooth, stainless extrusion that the disc encircles--a clever design. While it's dishwasher safe, and also hand washes like a dream, I've found that just adding drip of dish soap, and then water above the minimum mark, and frothing the combo is like a self-cleaning cycle, particularly for the frothing disc. Rinse the suds out and it's sparkling clean.It also makes surprisingly good hot chocolate with milk, unsweetened cocoa, and sugar--and you can tweak the balance to your taste. I rarely take the time to make real hot chocolate with milk on the stove top, but this can make it at least as fast as I can boil a kettle of water and pour it into a mug of boring cocoa mix powder. So it's not quite a uni-tasker.While it's frothing, and for a minute or two afterward. the base runs a fan to cool the induction coil electronics--a very quite whir that doesn't travel far. The beeps that the unit makes when it turns on, starts, and finishes are a little louder than most kitchen appliance beeps, and high-pitched, so that could wake late sleepers. That's the only negative I can think of. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best I've found *by J***A on December 23, 2020* Years ago, I examined my latte budget and switched to drinking less coffee out. The coffee piece has been easy - a simple espresso pot on the stove that's easily replaced has been perfect, and there are many good espressos out there, but it's been super hard to find a great milk frother. Poor foam, too-small capacity, cleaning difficulty, little wire discs that would give out...I have probably gone through 10 different frothers. This has far and away been my favorite. It's BIG. When my husband and I make lattes, we can easily make 2 without worrying about it overflowing all over the place (not true with most others). The size also makes it easier to clean. I love the disc - it's sturdy (not some wire thing that unravels) and foams well. It's stainless steel - no weird coatings to worry about - and, while it's not hard to clean, you can actually stick the pot in the dishwasher! You can decide on the temperature you want with the dial - this doesn't really vary for me, but I appreciate it. I've had it about 8 or 9 months, through quarantine, where it's gotten daily use.
