I didn't know it was out there, but when we searched online it was one of the first things we found.I've been hunting off on on for a cover for some months, and assumed the choice was between fairly bulky things that you could carry on your shoulder with a strap, and specialist top of thge range designer ware.I went as far as to buy one in denim, not me at all, for three times times the price of this, then took it back unused because it was tight and tricky to get my MacBook into it. Another search in a major high street name shop drew a similar blank. My wife reminded me that all I needed was something very simple that would cover the MacBook so I could put it in the special padded compartment in my backpack, or carry it in hand into meetings. She found this online, alongside three of four similar looking ones. It arrived 36 hours later. It's plain and black, with a zip exactly in the middle that opens on the curve of the spine along which it folds open. There are no special pockets or partitions, just four simple bits of elastic in the corners to secure the computer and some beading inside the zip for a little extra protection. The computer fits snugly and not too tightly. and that's it. Put computer in, zip up and off you go.It feels like wet-suit material. It's easily robust enough to protect from scratches, and (I haven't tested it though) to keep it intact when set it down quite heavily. (You want Fort Knox protection-you pay for it.) I like this no-nonsense simplicity. No-frills, no fuss, light - and no manufacturer's logo. There are elastic straps on the inside which I believe are intended for use to 'attach' the case to your laptop (you would hook the top and bottom around the outer corners of your laptop). However, this seems like a bad idea - as it provides no room for ventilation.The case is quite thin, so protection against shock would be minimal. However, I mostly wanted this sleeve to protect it from scratches and from other items in my bag - for which this item is more than adequate.
