I also have ulcerative colitis and when I experience a "flare up", I need to stop the coffee until I can get back in remission. I miss my coffee and tea is just not an adequate substitute for me. I came across this product and just ordered my second bag. It tastes very much like a strong cup of coffee which doesn't bother me. I do use extra milk (or creamer) than I would a regular cup of coffee to take a little of the edge off. By the way, there are some nice health benefits from roasted chicory root including relieving indigestion and supporting gut health. Just Google it. It is a little bit of an acquired taste so don't give up on it. I was sold by the third or fourth cup.

I've been using this for over 3 years now! When I needed an alternative to coffee, this hit the spot! Smooth and robust flavor profile. It comes ground and works great for French press, drip, or pour over. If you want to use it as a coffee alternative or decaf option in the afternoon, it is hard to tell the difference - especially when using a French Press.
