Review: Poseidon M60 Boom (2025 Model) - Met expectation - The box comes with: 2 x soundbar (join them together to become one), subwoofer, 1.5m HDMI cable, UK power adapter, wall mounting kit, instructions, remote control BUT NO 2 x AAA battery for the remote (which is kind of odd). Anyway, setup was easy. Join the soundbar, plug in the subwoofer, HDMI cable & power. The other side of HDMI cable goes to the TV's HDMI ARC socket. On modern TV, it will recognise the soundbar and promote you to setup right away. On audiophile ears, I would say the sound bar performed fairly well. Dialogs were clear. Bass was heavy. Certainly a noticeable upgrade from the few watt speakers inside the TV. Music wise, not so good with average mid and high. Perhaps its because the sound bar tries to turn the music into surround sound? For a price tag of around 100 quid, it did okay. There are equalizers in the app to address this, but too bad I bought this for my girlfriend, so never hand a chance to play with it. Besides, music alone was not its main purpose. For volume, we never went pass 20% as my other half doesn't like sounds too loud. For a 5m by 5m living room, it will definitely be enough. As for the surround sound effect... Sad to say, it is very much non-existence. Perhaps its is due to the limitation of speaker distances and the absent of rear speakers. I mean, if you sat close to the sound bar, you might hear it. But at a distance of 2-3 meters away from the Television, the differences of Left / Centre / Right becomes difficult to tell. Never mind the virtual rears. Overall, I think the sound bar perform exceptionally well without melting my wallet. There are a few models from Ultimea that tries to address the surround sound issue: U2603, U2624, U4123 & U4124. However, I do not trust wireless when it comes to sound. I didn't mind if it was wired, as I have mine behind the TV and have had no connection dropouts. My TV has eArc, and this model supports eArc. Connected via HDMI, and the TV registers it on its input. It can also connect to USB, optical and Bluetooth. Pairs without a flaw to phone. Download the ULTIMEA app, make sure the soundbar is switched on, and click add in the app; it will find the soundbar. It asked to update the firmware from version 9 to 10. I first tested out the soundbar before updating, and once I was happy went ahead with it, and it took around 15 minutes. You can set up the sound features with the remote or the app, and everything will display on the app. I leave the equaliser to movie and max out the bass. As expected, you won't hear much bass on normal TV as it's mostly dialogue, but if I play music on YouTube or Spotify, I can hear the bass fill the room. Very impressed with the sound quality as compared to another soundbar, which I bought but returned because of issues with HDMI ARC. Still have to test a movie with Dolby Atmos, but I'm sure I won't be disappointed. It's not too big and sits perfectly under the TV.
