I needed something strong - the laptop I'm using is an Alienware mx17 R2, so weighs about 6.5kg with the battery in, and has a 17" screen - so it's a bit of a beast. This stand takes the weight with no problem whatsoever. It has good sturdy 'feet', and comes with a pair of clamps if you need to attach it to a desk or a DJ coffin. It's easy to assemble, and is rock solid. I'm not out gigging though, so I can't vouch for its stability on the road or in a live situation, but I suspect you would have no problem at all with it.
