I haven't seen a toner yet that works well on a live data circuit. Generally you will get a weak tone at best. When you turn to tone you get no light indicator and instead you must use the "scan" selection to get a tone. And the two individual units will not turn them selves off until the batteries are dead apparently.The included RJ45 test cable included with mine would intermittently test ok with one of the link lights indicating the cable was bad... i was ready to once again pack up up and return but decided tp play with it more to see if i could get it to work right in any useful way. I tested a cable I made myself and it was indicated by their tester as correct so their cable was bad right out of the box, I assume hopefully correctly for that type of test the tester is ok,,, important to me for my use.For the tone test/trace: you must use scan and adjust the remote turn it on and it seeemed to work fine on the short run I tested it on.So far that is my experience with this unit. The seller gave extra hints on how the unit doesn't really work as expected via email.
