This food helped my dog loose weight !
During a recent visit to the vet, my dog weighed in at about 36 lbs. My doctor was like, yeah dude, this dog needs to lose some weight. I told her that because my mom is often feeding my dog treats or snacks behind my back, that it's really hard for any adjustments I make to actually be effective. I felt really frustrated by my situation because my mom couldn't see how what she was doing could in turn actually hurt him, and create health problems for him, so I thought, "okay, I'm going to try one last thing and see if it works." I was really happy when I found Ketona dog food. I had no idea there was such a thing: keto food for dogs! I'll admit this stuff is expensive. It's just about as much as Orijen, which is what we used before but I think the price is worth it. We've been using this for a few months now (we've bought the 125 lb bag several times already) and it helped his weight drop down to 32 lbs. It would be better if I could get it down to 30 but I suppose, given that I'm living back at home (thanks Covid), that maybe this is the best that I can hope for right now (given my mom's treat tendency lol). I will say that this food has made a big difference. My dog developed a problem with his ACL not long after that vet visit, so this helping him lose weight became even more meaningful. Some of the other modifications that I've made was changing his snacks, as well as getting him doggie steps (maybe he should have had them since he was a baby, I'm learning as I go, I guess). My dog eats Ketona twice a day and then any snacks we give him are pretty much 100% fish-based. He really likes the Icelandic brand, so that's been our go to. So, if you haven't tried Ketona yet, I say, give it a shot. It helped me and my dog when I felt totally hopeless and it's made a big enough difference that I don't have to worry about his weight nearly as much as I did before. Highly recommended!

I think this may actually be BETTER than raw!
I don't do reviews often (though I rely on them frequently.....yes I'm that person), but this deserves a review in hopes it will help others out there. I have three french bulldogs and we live in Austin, TX. Austin is like the allergy capital of world, no lie. In addition to that, they have food allergies and of course, being bulldogs, carbs are a problem because their ears and wrinkles get that yeasty grossness and sugar (aka carbs) exacerbates that problem exponentially. After they spent their youths loosing huge patches of fur and suffering itchiness beyond reason, we found raw feeding. Problem solved, literally! It wasn't overnight because it takes time for their immune systems to recover after eating low quality processed dog food. Now when I say low quality, do not think I was feeding them Dog Chow or Sam's Club. I tried every EXPENSIVE "High Quality" dog food out there. While raw feeding solved their health problems, one can become quite a slave to their dog's diet. I couldn't afford the commercial or boutique prepared raw diets for three dogs. I joined coops and eventually discovered a Texas-based company that sells a reasonably-priced raw ground food for them. Even so, I had to buy a freezer, place monthly orders, and arrive on time for pick up at a designated location. I did this for YEARS, and gladly so because it kept my little darlings healthy. However, as my darlings aged, they became less tolerant to the fat content of the raw diet. In fact, it started causing pancreatitis in one of my girls. I felt like I was back to square one. THANK GOD for Ketona. I was shocked to find that the raw nutrition mentality has caught on so much that someone was actually producing a raw-comparable kibble that is LOW FAT! Hallelujah! My dogs have been on Ketona for about a year. I had to mix it with a bit of chicken broth in the beginning to switch them over but now they gobble it up straight out of the bag. They've done excellent on it. What is super surprising to me is that I think, and this is just my personal theory, that the protein in Ketona is somehow more accessible to their bodies than the raw diet was. I say this because my dogs have gained a substantial amount of muscle mass since switching. NOT fat, literally muscle mass. My little girl is now a little rock. No belly on her but she has muscles she never had before. Thank you Ketona for giving me healthy dogs and my freedom. I am forever loyal!

No more seizures
Update #2: My dog has now been on Ketona for a year and a half. He loves it and he doesn’t have any health issues. Still no seizures. He gets a little drizzle of hemp oil on his food along with some powder to keep his teeth clean. I’ve thought about switching him to a fresh food or raw food, but he’s doing so well on Ketona and I find it to be a fair price so I’m keeping him on it.Update: My dog has been on this food for 4 or 5 months now with no seizures, not a single one. He’s super energetic and his coat is super soft and shiny. He had been losing the fur on his ears and chest, but it’s all grown back now. I added in a salmon oil supplement for him, too. I wouldn’t risk switching to another food. He’ll be eating Ketona for as long as it’s around. My min pin started having minor seizures after eating anything with a higher carb content. While the vet wanted to start him on hardcore meds that had tons of side effects, I thought I’d try switching him to a low carb diet first. Since starting on this food, he hasn’t had any seizures or digestive upset. He loves the kibbles and looks forward to meal time. We will definitely continue buying this great food!! Just as an FYI, we feed him small chunks of cold coconut oil, hard boiled eggs, boiled chicken, and cheese for treats now since most commercial dog treats are high in carbs.
