It was user error in my case. Took it back apart actually looked at the assembly instructions put it back together "correctly"and it works flawlessly. Wish it came with more shells though. The darts only shoot about 20% of the time and when they do, they just look like they have simply fallen out. The shells stopped ejecting after about 3 times of being shot.
