You start feeling the heat within a couple of minutes, but it takes about 7-10 minutes to reach full heat. It does keep you nice and warm once it gets going (even on the low setting). This car seat also provide a nice little extra cushion to your seat, so the added comfort is a nice plus. I gave it 4 stars because the straps don't hold it in place very well.
