It holds my iPhone 5s, in its case, very securely in the silicon lined clip so I have no worries at all about it falling out. The ball joint makes it possible to move your phone into various positions and locks up tight enough to ensure there is no movement once in position. There is a quick release lever on the base which is handy for removing the holder if fixed to a surface.I did have a slight problem in that I was unable to mount the holder on my car dashboard due to the textured surface and I don't like to stick things permanently onto the windows both for safety and security reasons. However, it looks like the purchase of one of these plates for Sat Nav holders should remedy this situation. Unable to hold my iPhone steady: vibrates like mad at the slightest bump. After a while, suction cup popped free from windscreen without being touched and without phone in grip (despite windscreen being carefully cleaned before application).
