I haven't had that problem with this brand so I'll likely buy more. The one-inch size is good for small projects and to add some niche color - not so good for adding base coats. But I'm liking it so far.

No issues with the bristles as long as they stay in the brush. There are better options. These shed too much. May need to spend a bit more, but you may avoid the aggrevation of escaping bristles.
