"...doorframe itself is the weak point here. While the product can handle more weight, your doorframe may come apart- that's why I put that particular weight restriction. I've finished a few designs that will hopefully allow for more weight, but I'm still testing..." I myself have a set and the product material and workmanship is top notch. When I installed them, I was a little concerned that the screws provided weren't strong enough but they're more than sufficient, though, I only weigh about 170lbs. If the screw is the concern, the mounting holes in the brackets have a little extra room. Your husband can maybe buy some screws of similar quality with a thicker shank/shaft (the part of the screw that goes down the center of the threads) that still fit in the hole, but that's just what I'd do at my own risk. **Q: Would be acceptable to use these as pull up handles if I mounted the brackets higher in the door frame?** A: You could but the handles would likely wiggle a bit and your arms would be in an awkward position to do the pullups. That, and if you installed the brackets that high, you couldn't actually use them for dips. I wouldnt recommend them pullups. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product for a great tricep workout *by T***Z on February 29, 2016* Great design, reasonable price, and installation is easy. Grips have a good angle to avoid unnecessary deltoid strain. Solid construction. My problem is that the doorframe where I installed it is apparently weak, because it has started cracking. Planning to move it to another doorway soon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good design however a few flaws *by D***N on May 6, 2017* Good design and easy to use. Definitely strong enough to hold lots of weight. I do weighted dips with 25 to 50 lbs. the Dipgrips arrived on time and packaged very well. I have two issues with the bars. The rubber grips need to be glued on as I have already had them rotate when using the Dipgrips. I will glue mine on. The bar slots that fit into the brackets are just a little bit larger allowing the bars to move slightly. One note when installing the brackets, most interior door openings are one to two inches larger than the studded frame. This allows for the door frame to be shimmed to fit to accommodate leveling the door frame. This means that in order not to bend the door frame, you might need to install a filler strip when installing the brackets. This will prevent the door frame from bending and allow a strong tight fit. ### ⭐⭐⭐ good...but not great *by C***Z on May 16, 2015* The product arrived on time, in good condition and with all the piecesInstallation was quick and easy.All you need is a tape measure, electric drill with a phillips head bit and a marker/pen to mark the holes.I bought this item because i wanted to save space and because i already have a door- way pull up bar i didn't need a powertower dip/pull station taking up space in my room.The only issue I have with this product is that it wiggles a bit and over time the screws have loosened up in the the door frames.
