The GC is the highest gallantry award for civilians, as well as for members of the armed forces in actions for which purely military honours would not normally be granted. The George Cross was instituted on 24 September 1940 by King George VI. At this time, during the height of the Blitz, there was a strong desire to reward the many acts of civilian courage. The existing awards open to civilians were not judged suitable to meet the new situation, therefore it was decided that the George Cross and the George Medal would be instituted to recognise both civilian gallantry in the face of enemy action and brave deeds more generally. The medal does have the word copy written on it. Size of the medal is : 45mm X 45mm. ## Features - It is full size, high quality replica medal with ribbon - The George Cross (GC) is second in the order of wear in the United Kingdom honours system, and takes precedence over all other orders, decorations and medals, except the Victoria Cross - It is excellent WW2 gift for people interested in military, memorabilia or for collectors - It is ideal to wear or display instead medal issued to you and also to commemorate family members bravery in the ww2 - It is currently awarded for acts of the greatest heroism of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme danger ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B01EODGP70 | | Batteries included? | No | | Brand | Trikoty | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars (72) | | Date First Available | 23 April 2016 | | Guaranteed software updates until | unknown | | Is discontinued by manufacturer | No | | Manufacturer | Trikoty | | Package Dimensions | 12.7 x 7.9 x 0.7 cm; 20 g | ## Images ![The George Cross Highest Gallantry Award for Civilians & Military WW2 | Army | Navy | RAF | Replica - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61yEq3uEMeL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does it say copy on the back** A: Yes it has the word COPY stamped on the back of the medal ## Frequently Bought Together - The George Cross Highest Gallantry Award for Civilians & Military WW2 | Army | Navy | RAF | Replica - Trikoty The Military Cross Military Medal Award for Gallantry to All Ranks to | Army | Navy | RAF | REPLICA George V - The Victoria Cross Medal Full Size Highest British Military Award for Conspicuous Bravery to | ARMY | NAVY | RAF | RM | SBS | PARA Reproduction --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/60661674-the-george-cross-highest-gallantry-award-for-civilians-and-military](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/60661674-the-george-cross-highest-gallantry-award-for-civilians-and-military) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-11-04*
