There is a paper with the picture/design on the grid. You have to count the spaces when you are doing the yarn hooking. it's pretty easy- I counted out per 3" square. It's a forgiving design and fluffy yarn, so exact placement/slight mistakes don't show. Have fun! **Q: How does that work , a blank canvas ?** A: There is a sheet of paper with the order of the colors by the rows. Don't lose the paper. Or you could take a marker and color the canvas using the paper as a guide.
